Miami's Filming Seasons

November–April: Peak Production Season

The dry season is Miami's golden production window. Temperatures between 65-80°F, low humidity, minimal rain, and the spectacular clarity of winter light make this the ideal period for outdoor filming. Book early — the best production companies fill up December through March.

May–October: Wet Season Challenges & Opportunities

Miami's rainy season brings afternoon thunderstorms — usually brief (30-60 minutes) but intense. Experienced production teams plan morning exterior shoots and schedule indoor work for afternoons. The bonus: tropical storm light creates dramatic, cinematic skies that photographers and directors love.

Daily Timing: Golden Hour is Everything

Miami's golden hour — the 60-90 minutes after sunrise and before sunset — produces the most spectacular light in the world. For any exterior shot that needs to look extraordinary (real estate, brand films, hospitality content), scheduling around golden hour is non-negotiable.

Midday (10 AM–3 PM)

Harsh overhead sun creates unflattering shadows on faces and overexposes outdoor backgrounds. We recommend scheduling interviews, indoor scenes, and shaded exterior shots for midday if you're filming in summer.

Hurricane Season Considerations

Hurricane season runs June 1–November 30. We monitor forecasts closely and have contingency plans for reschedules. Most years, production disruption is minimal — but flexibility in scheduling is essential for summer and fall shoots.

Pro tip: For beach, waterfront, and aerial drone shoots, early morning on weekdays avoids crowds and gives you the best light. We regularly start drone operations at 6:45 AM on South Beach and Key Biscayne to beat both the sun angle and the tourists.

How Far in Advance Should You Book?

November–April: 4-6 weeks minimum. May–October: 2-3 weeks typical. For large productions with specific location permits: 6-8 weeks regardless of season.
